The Story

The legendary MP5 — the weapon that defined special operations.

The SP5K is the civilian, semi-automatic version of the MP5K — the legendary "kurz" (short) submachine gun developed for VIP protection details and special forces. The MP5 family has been the gold standard of submachine guns since 1966.

British SAS. Navy SEALs. German GSG 9. If a tier-one unit went into a hostile situation between 1980 and 2010, an MP5 was almost certainly in their hands.

That iconic roller-delayed blowback action produces a uniquely smooth, controllable recoil impulse — completely different from any AR or AK. The "MP5 ping" of the bolt cycling is one of the most recognizable sounds in firearms.

If there's one weapon that defined counter-terrorism for an entire generation, it's the MP5. Every serious unit had them. Every serious operator trained on them.

Former SAS operator, interview

The Iranian Embassy and the shot heard round the world.

When the SAS stormed the Iranian Embassy in 1980, and when U.S. Navy SEALs rescued Jessica Lynch in 2003, MP5s were the weapons in their hands. Owning an SP5K is owning a slice of special operations history.

The roller-delayed action is also why the MP5 sounds so distinctive on film. The bolt traveling on rollers produces a cycling sound no other action matches — instantly recognizable to anyone who's seen an action movie from the 1980s or 90s.

Fifty years of special operations

The MP5 legacy.

No submachine gun has served more elite units, appeared in more films, or defined an era of counter-terrorism the way the MP5 has.

MP5 enters service

Heckler & Koch introduces the MP5 to the West German police and military. The roller-delayed action, adapted from the G3 rifle, produces a weapon unlike any other SMG.

The SP5K is the most cinematic firearm in our collection. Here's what our visitors say after firing the real thing.

★★★★★

I've seen this gun in every action movie since I was a kid. Actually holding it, feeling the roller action, hearing that sound — it was genuinely emotional. One of the best experiences I've had.

The roller-delayed action feels completely different from everything else. Much smoother. The instructor explained why and it suddenly made sense. Iconic engineering.

Came for the Glock, left obsessed with the MP5. That cycling sound is unmistakable. I immediately recognised it from every film I've ever seen. Now I understand why.
