The Story

Vepr 1 V

The Vepr-1 is Molot's hunting-configured rifle on the heavy RPK receiver — built for serious big-game hunters in the vast Russian wilderness, where shooters routinely face boar, bear, and elk.

The combination of an indestructible action and a powerful full-size cartridge makes it a favorite of professional Russian hunters working in conditions where rifle failure is not an option.

Full-power rifle cartridges in a semi-auto AK platform deliver an experience that's pure Russian — heavy, authoritative, and unstoppable. The recoil is significant but very manageable thanks to the long-stroke piston soaking up the impulse.

"Vepr" (Вепрь) means wild boar in Russian — fitting for a rifle designed to take down the toughest game in Eastern Europe and Siberia.

★★★★★

The Vepr-1 V is the most accurate AK-platform rifle I've ever fired. The heavy barrel makes a real difference — groupings at 25 metres were tighter than I expected from a gas-operated carbine.

★★★★★

I asked the instructor what set the Vepr apart from the standard AK-47 and the answer became clear after the first magazine — smoother, more accurate, noticeably less felt recoil. A true step up.

Anna F. · Riga
★★★★★

Molot's manufacturing quality is immediately apparent. The action feels tighter and the barrel is visibly heavier than the AK-47 we'd fired earlier. An excellent rifle that rewards accuracy-focused shooting.
