The Story

Molot Vepr

The Vepr ("wild boar" in Russian) is built on the receiver of the legendary RPK light machine gun — meaning it's significantly stronger and more durable than a standard AKM. Molot has been producing weapons for the Soviet/Russian military since 1940, and that DNA carries straight through.

RPK heritage means an RPK-thick receiver, RPK-quality barrel, and RPK reliability. It's the AK platform overbuilt to the point of being nearly indestructible.

Add the powerful 7.62×54R cartridge (the same round used by the Mosin-Nagant and PKM machine gun), and you have a rifle with serious historical weight and ballistic punch.

The 7.62×54R cartridge has been in continuous military service since 1891 — making it one of the oldest cartridges still actively used by major militaries today. Firing it is firing a piece of unbroken history.

★★★★★

I've fired AK-47s before, but the Vepr is a step up in every way. More accurate, smoother action, and that heavier barrel makes a real difference on follow-up shots. Worth every euro.

★★★★★

The Molot manufacturing quality is noticeable immediately. The action is tighter than any AK I've fired, and the accuracy at 25 metres was impressive. Not your typical Kalashnikov experience.

★★★★★

Came in for a 30-minute session and ended up booking extra rounds for the Vepr alone. The 7.62×39mm cartridge has a satisfying authority to it, and the rifle is simply very enjoyable to shoot.
